Volunteer for us! We’re 100% volunteers and we’d love new people to join us. Since 2021 due to difficult economic circumstances it’s been harder to find volunteers. If you’d like an informal chat about any of the roles then please ring 07505 712164 or e-mail nopanicsheffvol@gmail.com

Vacancies in August 2024:

4x Thursday Facilitators

This is to facilitate our Thursday Groups 10am-midday.

Due to changes since covid, we are looking for someone more experienced to run these groups. Having an understanding of Autism, ADHD, Social Anxiety, Panic Attacks and Agoraphobia would be beneficial.

Apply here using our jotform, or e-mail nopanicsheffvol@gmail word version of the application form.

2x Social Organiser Volunteer (1 vacancy)

We do socials every month/two months. As an organisation without any buildings, this is crucial for volunteers and members to get together and for new members to meet what things are like outside of the group. Many new members even in 2024 are finding it difficult to leave the house and meet people.

Apply here using our jotform, or e-mail nopanicsheffvol@gmail word version of the application form.

2x Awareness Raising Volunteers

These are volunteers to promote and make people aware our support groups are running and to gain volunteers. We need promotion on Facebook, Linkedin and Instagram. It may also occasionally involve assist going to volunteering fayres or talks. It may also involve writing blog posts.

1x Website Volunteer

A website volunteer needed to maintain the website, write blog posts and develop the website further. Skills in WordPress, plugins, SEO, graphics required. This job can be done remotely, we would consider a candidate outside Sheffield.

We are primarily looking for people with their own experiences of mental health, which is sometimes called ‘lived experience’. We value this much more highly than other things.

As we are not representative of the groups or the city our recruitment policy should reflect this and try to address this. We particularly welcome applications from candidates who are LGBTQ+, BAMER, people from seldom heard communities, men and those who are over 30 years old. We also heavily encourage applications from students who are not psychology students, who have an interest in mental health and their own experiences who feel they could do group work as part of a small friendly team. Finally we also welcome those without degrees who have life experience. Unfortunately you do have to be over 18 to volunteer. Unfortunately we do not do formal placements, as we cannot due to our size, however if you are a medical student or other student who feel you would benefit observing a group in a community setting then please get in touch.

As we are a voluntary sector organisation, the sector generally lacks people with deeper level tech and media skills. If you are someone who wants to volunteer for a mental health charity and have skills in media, video editing, graphic design and drawing, social media and website design and maintenance, please get in touch, we’d very much like to hear from you. It would make a big impact on a very small charity.

For Psychology students/graduates

We get a large number of Psychology students and recent graduates from The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam Universities interested in volunteering. This is often because people have their own experiences and are interested in getting ‘clinical experience’ and becoming a Clinical Psychologist, or exploring that idea or doing something related in a clinical field. It’s a great way of meeting a range of people.

Destinations of Psychology students/grads after people have volunteered with No Panic (based on 100 volunteers):

Very common:

Assistant Psychologist

Psychological Wellbeing Practictioner

Around 80% of our Psychology student/graduate volunteers go on to these roles.

Less common:
